Skeletons Museum of Osteology is a Blue Ribbon Winner
I wanted to make sure the first review I posted was a winner, so others new what they were hoping to achieve. The Skeletons Museum of Osteology sets a high bar.
The first thing you will notice about Skeletons is that it doesn’t seem like a museum. The building isn’t grand architecture. It isn’t in a prime location. It just doesn’t have the trappings you expect.
What it does have is two floors of display after well layed out display of over 400 species complete skeletons. In addition to that, over 800 species are represented.
Located SE of I40 and I35 in Oklahoma City Oklahoma (10301 S Sunnylane Road to be precise), this bone filled building is conveniently located and a joy to visit.
What is really crazy is it is only $13 for folks over 12 and $11 for those that haven’t made it to their teens. You will spend that on the toll roads in Oklahoma if you aren’t careful (they are easy to avoid though). So on top of being a top notch museum, they are also a bargain.
The ticketing process is a breeze and you can just pay when you get there. As noted previously, the displays are well laid out and easy to navigate…with animal types grouped together so you can see the similarities and differences between different species in the various genus’.
The staff is extra friendly, and the even encourage photography…so if you are like me and a big part of your interest in skeletons is as art references, there is no need for the sneak shots so many of us are guilty of.
The long and short of it is that the Skeletons Museum of Osteology is a great place to visit for anyone interested in biology, nature, art, or just looking at things they haven’t seen before and comes highly recommended…and since it is right off I40, you will probably go near it sometime soon. Do yourself a solid and stop in.
